All's Well that Ends Well in Khovd

Posted by: jsadmin

Yesterday we drove all the way from camp to way out in the wild lands on rough, rough roads for six hours back to Hovd (or Khovd, as the locals spell it). It was a long, bumpy drive and we made it all the way here with only one flat tire and we even got a hotel and had our first warm shower since we arrived in Mongolia, so all's well that ends well. We had a nice meal and now apparently there's a big celebration here with all the locals partying late into the night, but it's ok because in a few hours we catch a flight to Ulaanbaatar and stay over night there and then tomorrow we drive out to the area where we're hunting the Hangai argali.

That's about all the news right now. We got the sheep's skull all boiled out yesterday and we scored it officially and it was actually 227, so it's a lot bigger than I thought. The length was 52 and 50 for each side and it has very massive, heavy bases so we're really excited about it. We'll see what happens tomorrow for the Hangai.
