Shawn Michaels Scores with Muzzleoader and Bow
Great day again today. Weather was kind of iffy; a little cool and a little drizzly, but we got all the way out to where we were going to hunt. We saw four bears on the way out there, but not bears you'd go after. So the first bear we saw in the area we wanted to hunt looked pretty good, so we made a long, long stalk and sneaked up and there he was. Shawn Michaels is my hunter and he made a perfect shot, T/C muzzleloader. Basically dropped him in his tracks at 40 yards. He's a monster, huge, huge bodied bear. One of the biggest-bodied bears I've ever taken. Not long and lanky. Just a big stout block of a bear like an old grizzly bear or cave bear, shaggy coat, beautiful bear. And then after that we went hunting with bow and arrow and we got close to one that I thought we'd get, but we didn't quite.
The other guys saw lots of bears. Todd Bissenden is guiding Chris Brackett shooting a "Professionals" show for us and shooting a show for Chris. They saw 10 or 12, four good shooter boars. They were within 60 yards of two of them, they just couldn't quite close the deal to get within bow range.
The Next Day ...
We're coming in early tonight because Shawn got a beautiful bear with his bow, 25 yard shot, great footage. The bear came right to us, wouldn't give a broadside shot, so we had to let him go and then we worked along and he came back out right by us, perfect shot. This week is like archery week. Yesterday Chris Brackett had a few bears that he was close to. But all of the other archers already have two bears too. Freddy was skinning one when another bear came right up to them and they had to hold it off and guard Freddy while he was skinning. The bear was waiting for the carcass. Freddy got all of the meat out of there and nobody got hurt.
Today I got head-onned on one of the logging roads. I was coming around a blind corner of a tight logging road, just putting along really slowly cause you never know and a pickup with three loggers came around the corner way way too fast for the corner. I got stopped and we had to sit there and watch them come sliding right into us, "wham" head on, but it wasn't a big deal, just dented in the bumper.
