Iranian Police Upset with Jackal-Control Hunt

Posted by: jsadmin

Really different day today. We didn't do anything until 10:30 this morning, and then we loaded up the trucks and went to another town about 50 miles from the town that we were in yesterday. They got us permits to go hunting Golden jackal, porcupine, wild boar and rabbit. It was an area where the guide knows the mayor so we drove to the town and barbecued up my sheep from the other day. Around evening time we went with he mayor into the town. Apparently they have a huge jackal problem infesting their town and killing their sheep, so we went on a predation jackal-control hunt. We were literally shooting jackals inside the town - it was bizarre. We drove around all night with spotlights, trying to shoot these jackals that have been infesting this town. It was really different. We did that until about midnight, but now I'm actually blogging because the local police didn't like the idea of shooting here, so the mayor and the police are having an argument right now in town. So we'll see how that all turns out. Hopefully I will be blogging tomorrow and not sitting in an Iranian jail cell.

Tomorrow is a travel day. We're traveling southwest for our Armenian sheep hunt. Right now I'm blogging from the city of Qom, which is the home of Iatola Komani who was the political leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Long drive tomorrow, heading to bed now.
