Easy Climbing, Tough Driving in Iran
We got up a little bit later this morning because Mike and I were jet-lagged and also so we could site-in my gun this morning once it was light. I took six shots with it and it was shooting about four inches high when we got here, so I dropped it down, then dropped it down again so then the last shot was right on the bulls eye. We went hunting at that point which is pretty simple hunting. They drive around this whole mountain range and then we walk in from the back side, but we don't really walk that far. It's a pretty easy, simple walk and it is pure desert here. Dry, dry, dry, about nine inches of rain per year. We saw lots of sheep once we climbed into the hills. I'm not sure what kind they are, but I think they're a cross between an Afghan Urial and a Transcaspian Urial, it looks like. Then we started spotting the Ibex, but there are way less Ibex. Altogether we saw two males with one band, and two males with another band and that was it. None of them were big enough to go after, so we basically spent the day glassing and then walked back to the truck in the evening and drove. It's an hour and a half drive to go around the mountain on the bumpiest road ever, and then another hour and a half back in. So the actual drive in and drive out is tougher than anything. That pretty much sums up our day in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Looking forward to tomorrow.
