It's Ca-ca-ca-cold in Saskatchewan
Up at five o'clock this morning and out the door by six. Minus 25 today when we got on stand. I knew it was going to be slow because there wasn't even a fresh deer track in the snow. We got on stand and were absolutely frozen like popcicles. We didnt see a single deer all morning and at noon we had to go take pictures of Evas buck back at our ranch, so we left our stand and came back two hours later. There were 14 pictures on the Stealth Cam so we knew deer had come through while we were gone. So we sat for the rest of the afternoon and we saw four does and one medium-sized buck, which I never actually saw because I was in the Primos Double Bull Blind just looking out the windows, but Todd saw it from our second camera position a short ways away.
As for the guys up at our other camp, everyone saw deer today in all the camps but none of them had shots, except at North Camp, where they got two good bucks. That's the same group of five policemen that got the 184 the other day - the "Giant" - and then got two more today. They're pretty happy.
It was so cold all day long with the wind blowing on us and snowing like crazy, so winter is definitely here. Of course this is exactly the day that my truck decides to have a flat tire. How much fun is it trying to change a flat tire in 25-below weather, in 8 inches of snow?
