In Saskatchewan Slamming Monster Bucks

Sunday we have our team breakfast at the Saskatoon Inn. Didn't hunt Saturday morning had too much to do with projects for sponsors, then went on stand Saturday afternoon, had a spiker and a 4x4 come in and then a nice 5x5 came in with just about 10 minutes of legal shooting light, so we let him go and hopefully he'll come back in another day. We have a ton of really good bucks on Stealth Cam.

Really good news in the North Camp, this week we killed that monster 6x6 that will net Boone and Crockett, but then yesterday evening while we were having the team get-together at the Saskatoon Inn, we got a call from Lyndon and in the last hour of one of our hunter's last day, the hunter got a monster buck. Everybody is excited, we haven't killed bucks like this in a few years, so it's really exciting when we get two in one week. Saskatchewan looks like it is coming back real good. Everyone is happy. Looking forward to this next week. Weather is cooling down, so it's looking good.

The Next Days ...

In Saskatchewan we've been hunting hard this week with Eva, sitting all day every day; today I was on stand and got a call from one of our whitetail camps, they got a 184 buck yesterday, so we are just slamming the big bucks this year compared to the last three years. We're so happy, Saskatchewan is back on the map. The future is looking rosy for big deer up there.

Eva with her Horton crossbow and her first Saskatchewan buck. A Rage broadhead blew completely through the huge-bodied buck. That's the Stealth Cam photo of the deer alive, days before ...

As far as Eva goes, I was having a real tough week trying to show her deer. Last year she hunted for five days and I couldn't find her a shooter buck, this year on her fifth day and just with like a half hour of legal light an ancient old buck walked in almost 8 years old, one that I have on camera for the last four years at least, huge body going down hill, made a perfect shot with Horton crossbow and Rage broadhead. Absolutely magnificent, it only went about 60 yards. Eva was worried she missed, but I saw the Lumenok go right through it. She had never shot a deer with a crossbow before, so she didn't know. Perfect heart shot. The world is rosy again, that was a lot of pressure on me after not finding her a deer last year, I couldn't go two years in a row.
