Background

These hunts take place in the famed waterfowling areas of Saskatchewan, Canada. Hunters who have never seen geese by the thousands will love this wing shooters paradise – when everything comes together the number of birds is unbelievable. We have state of the art decoys and blinds along with professional guides and spotters who will help you make the most of your trip to the north for world class waterfowl hunting.

Lodging and Food

All hunters will stay in a beautiful local lodge owned and operated by Fred Lackie and will be fed good, homestyle cooking during the duration of the hunt. Any lodging that is required before or after the hunt must be arranged by the client and is the client’s financial responsibility.

Hunting StyleCanadian Waterfowl 1

Clients will wake up early (around 4:00am), eat a light breakfast of muffins and coffee and then head to the field to set up decoys (Silosocks for snow geese and Dakota and Dave Smith decoys for Canadians) and blinds. After the morning shoot (ending at noon), you will return to camp for a mid day rest and lunch. In the afternoon you will head back into the field and set decoys and blinds for another hunt and then return to the lodge for a nice evening meal.

Clothing

Temperatures during this time of year generally run from the 30’s in the morning to as high as the mid 60’s in the afternoon, so bring clothes that can be layered depending on the temperature. Camo pattern is not important as we will be hiding in “coffin” blinds that cover the hunters form the eyes of wary birds. A full list of recommended gear will be sent to you once you book.

Travel

Clients will fly into Saskatoon where they will be met by one of representatives and driven to the ranch house to get ready for the hunt the next morning. At the conclusion of the hunt, clients will be driven back to the airport for their flight home, or to the Saskatoon Inn, if there are no afternoon flights available. If a room is required at the Saskatoon Inn, it is the client’s responsibility to reserve the room and cover all costs (Saskatoon Inn; (800) 667-8789).

Guns and AmmunitionCanadian Waterfowl 2

Clients will normally bring 12 gauge shotguns, but other calibers are fine as well. Upon booking, we will send you information about bringing your gun into Canada. Hunters can bring their own shells (must be steel shot) or we can arrange to get it for you when you arrive.
