Charity Hunts
Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures gets numerous requests for charity hunts each year. Jim decided several years ago to focus our efforts on honoring Canadian and USA military personnel who help protect our great countries. We do this by doing what we do best. We take our veterans on a guided all expense paid hunt to one of Jim’s outfitting areas. Beginning this program in 2009, Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures has hosted 6 veterans on trips and we are taking 6 more deserving soldiers in 2011. Ideally we like to find candidates who have served together to hunt in pairs as it adds considerable enjoyment to the experience to be able to share it with a “hunting buddy”. We make sure at least one of the pair has suffered duty injuries and that both have been deployed in active combat overseas.
Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures pays all expenses for the veterans including hunt costs, transportation, tips, taxidermy, etc. Once the candidate has been confirmed through our vetting process, our motto is “you will never have to take your wallet out of your pocket – just enjoy this trip of a lifetime”. Funding for this program is primarily generated through the Desert Shoot Out golf outing which Jim hosts every February in Arizona.
