Bear Videos Trophy Room References
Tim Looney Pacific Rim also owns an exclusive guiding area in Saskatchewan. This area contains a good percentage of color-phase bears. These hunts are available on a limited basis, 10 per spring. On Vancouver Island there are no color-phase bears, every bear is pitch black. For those clients who want a cinnamon, blond, red or brown phase black bear, Saskatchewan is the place to go. Pure black bears are available there as well.

LESS EXPENSIVE FOR GIANT BEARS:

The Saskatchewan bear hunts are significantly less expensive than the hunts on Vancouver Island. The largest bear weighed 550 pounds! The top end of the bears in the Saskatchewan camp might well be higher than Vancouver Island. The largest black bear ever taken in Canada was taken on the border of this territory in 1997 and scored nearly 23 Boone and Crockett points! Our hunters in Saskatchewan often see 10-20 bears during the course of the hunt, and success has been high.

HUNTING METHOD:

Tim Looney Virtually all bear hunts in Saskatchewan are baited hunts. Baiting begins as early in the spring as the law allows; by the time the clients show up, the bears will be there, too. These hunts are excellent choices for archery and muzzleloader.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

This is wilderness area, and the clients stay in comfortable log cabins set in a beautiful scenic location. Bears are often seen (and have been taken) right from the camp. Meals are the best in home cooking and are served with a smile, in the large main cabin. If there is time after your hunt, Pacific Rim has exclusive fishing rights on a nearby lake for northern pike, and when you are done hunting, guided fishing trips can be arranged on a pay-per-day basis.

Angelo Valenti WHERE & HOW:

This exclusive guiding area encompasses 150 square miles of the very best black bear habitat in northern Saskatchewan. Better still, the territory is situated beside the huge Prince Albert National Park. This park in essence, is a 1,000-square-mile "no-hunting-allowed," game preserve. Monster black bears are always filtering out of the park into Pacific Rim's territory.

Clients fly to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and rent vehicles and drive up to the hunting area. The trip is approximately 3 1/2 hours. If the client prefers not to drive, arrangements can be made for pick-up and drop-off. There is a charge for this service of $75 USD each way per client, minimum two clients.

PASSPORTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ENTER THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, STARTING IN JANUARY EVERYONE entering the United States by sea or air, beginning Jan. 8, 2007, INCLUDING US CITIZENS, will need a passport. All American hunters, planning to hunt in Canada or elsewhere in the future, should apply for a passport right away. The resultant rush for passports will possibly cause delays, so the sooner you apply, the sooner you will get your passport. Please note that as of Jan. 1, 2008, the passport rule will apply at all land border crossings as well.

PRICING INFORMATION:

Six-Day Hunt: $3,500 USD plus 5% goods and services tax (GST). Price includes food and guide fees, lodging and all transportation while hunting. Observers are welcome, cost $1000. Although we have never exercised it, we reserve to right to add a “fuel surcharge” to cover extreme rises in fuel prices between the time you book and the hunt date. Again, though we have never exercised it, we reserve the right to adjust the price of the hunt should the US dollar drop in value against the Canadian dollar, below the exchange it was when you booked the hunt. The US dollar has dropped nearly 35% in value in the last three years and we have not raised our prices to make up the difference, but we can not afford to subsidize further drops in the US dollar value.

Not Included:Approximately $150 USD for licence, tag, and other government fees. Tips for guides and camp help.

Dates:Hunt change-over days are Sundays. Hunts begin in the third week of May and run through the first week in June inclusive. Choice of dates in the order of the deposits received.

Deposit: A $1,750 USD deposit is required to hold a date. This deposit is non-refundable unless the hunter can find a replacement. The balance of the hunt price is due 90 days prior to the hunting season. If you have any questions or there is something you need, please feel free to call anytime!!
